HELLO FITMAMIS!

"WHAT ARE THE BEST CARBOHYDRATES??"

This is a question that I receive frequently from you and that's why I wanted to do this blog so everyone can take advantage of the information.

Whether your goal is to lose fat or stay tone right now, it is NOT recommended that you eliminate carbohydrates from your diet, just learn to choose those that are high in nutrients, that help control your blood glucose and insulin levels, and that give you sustained energy and make you feel satisfied throughout the day.

The best carbohydrates you can eat in those cases are:

Rice: it is a complex carbohydrate, it  has a lot of nutrients. One cup of rice has 80% of the daily manganese recommendations, is high in selenium, fiber, calcium, antioxidants, low glycemic load and gluten free.

Oats: this cereal is excellent for improving the digestive system, is high in protein and fiber, low glycemic load and low in calories

Quinoa: is a pseudo grain that contains all the essential amino acids, an excellent addition to any vegetarian's diet. It is also very high in fiber, low glycemic load and gluten free, it has been named a superfood because it is very complete and due to the high content of amino acids it has.

Sweet potato: it has a low glycemic load even though its taste is sweet, it is even better than potato. It is a tuber high in antioxidants, fiber and potassium.

Berries: berries are one of the best fruits, especially when the goal is to lose fat, they are low in calories and sugar, high in vitamin C and fiber, they are really excellent!

Apple: whether it is green, red or yellow, it is great! This is a low glycemic load fruit, high in a super-potent fiber called pectin, which controls appetite a lot. It is also high in quercetin, which is a great antioxidant.

Now……………………….    READ THIS,  because it is very important a golden rule with carbs is that you should measure the amount (visualize your hand making a fist and that is more or less the portion you should consume) and ask yourself: what will I do in the next 2-3 hours? If your answer is: "I will be active", then eat it! If your answer is: "lie down, sleep, watch TV", pass, and eat vegetables or good fats + protein.
